Dr. Ivan Bristow is a podiatrist in the United Kingdom who has worked in the profession for thirty years. From early on in his career, after spotting a melanoma on a patient’s leg as a student, he has developed an interest in dermatological conditions affecting the feet (sometimes called "podiatric dermatology").
During his career, he initially spent 11 years working full time within the National Health Service as a podiatrist. It was whilst working in Oxford, a chance meeting with a Dermatologist, allowed Ivan to establish the UK's first dedicated foot clinic in a dermatology department - which he ran for ten years.
After leaving the health service, he embarked on an academic career focused on teaching and research. During this time, he completed his Master’s degree at the University of Oxford and his PhD at the University of Southampton. He holds private clinics in Hampshire whilst continuing to work on various dermatology related projects in education and research.
With over 100 published papers about foot dermatology, including four books, and has spoken around the world at many meetings in dermatology, podiatry, and wound care he continues to promote knowledge and research into treating common skin problems affecting the foot. He currently holds adjunct academic positions at UK & Australian Universities.
Dr. Bristow is an excellent speaker and educator, and we are thrilled he is offering his time for these focused Dermoscopy webinars.
